Richard was later described as a church warden of East Budleigh while John Clark was one of Colyton's leading merchants. Richard and Agnes had eight children baptised at All saints Church in East Budleigh. Lot Conant was born in Dorchester or Cape Ann, Massachusetts, about 1624. He was the son of Roger Conant, who was the original Governor of Cape Ann & Salem, and his wife, Sarah Horton. He married, before 1650, Elizabeth, daughter of Rev. William Walton and Elizabeth Cooke, who was born in Seaton, Devonshire, England in 1629. Lot and Elizabeth were living in Marblehead as early as 1657. Lot was a selectman there in 1662.
In 1666, Lot's father gave him the homestead at Beverly including over 100 acres. On the same day, Lot leased back to his father the house and three acres for an annual rent of "one Indian corn". About this time, Lot probably moved his family back to Beverly and built a house near his father's, because "a dwelling house and orchard containing about 4 acres, with an old house of his father" is mentioned in the inventory of Lot's estate. In 1667 he was one of the founding members of the new church at Bass River, or Beverly. In March of 1670 and March of 1671, he sold his Marblehead houses and lands.
Lot and Elizabeth had ten children, eight born in Marblehead and the last two in Beverly. Lot was described in land deeds as "Lot Conant, yeoman", but in addition to his role as a farmer, he must have also had a trade, possibly shoemaker, as evidenced by his bequest of "the shop and tools" to son Nathaniel in his will. It is known that Nathaniel was a shoemaker. Lot Conant wrote his will on September 24, 1674, and died on September 29, in Beverly. His estate was valued at 780 Pounds. Two years later, Elizabeth married, as his third wife, Andrew Mansfield of Lynn. The death of Elizabeth is not recorded at Beverly, she may have died in Lynn. She was however, alive in 1683 when her husband died.

So far, we have not yet found a death date for Sarah. She does not appear in the Massachusetts 1920 or 1930 census. Nor in the town records or death indexes. It seems unlikely that she moved away but we have not found a death record.

There is a story in the Boston Globe about a Sarah Hooper, elderly (62 years), paralytic, who was being transported to the state hospital at Tewksbury and got stuck in a hearse for 8 hours. But, our Sarah Hooper is in Whitman in 1917-1920.

Sarah is enumerated in her father's home in 1900. There is a Benjamin F. Peterson next door who may be an older brother. She is listed as divorced and as having 3 children, all three of whom are still living. Sarah notes that she had three children, all of whom are still living in 1910.

Census:
In 1910, Sarah is living as a boarder. She reports that she is a widow and that 2 of her 3 children are living.

Rotha never married.

As a child, after her father abandoned the family, Rotha went to live with an aunt and uncle.

Census:
Rotha is found in the home of Ancon(?) W. and Clara H. Jenkins and is listed as a niece of the head of the household.

Clara H. Jenkins is Clara Hooper Jenkins, aunt of Cora and great-aunt of Rotha.

Census:
In 1920, Rotha is listed merely as the ward of Ancon W. Jenkins. His wife, Clara is no longer in the home. Remarkably, he has gone from 50 to 40 years old. It seems likely that the age in 1910 was incorrect.

Census:
Rotha is listed as a stenographer in 1930 for an attorney.

Residence:
Rotha returned from Bermuda on 21 Jun 1937 aboard the Queen of Bermuda. She reported that she was 33 years old, born in 1904 in Whitman, Mass.

This is really probably 123 W. 13th St, since that's where the Evangeline Residence was located.

Died:
Some sources hint that her death happened in Hanover, but the Massachusetts Death Index says Braintree.
