Notes:
Since no children are found in any of the census entries, it seems unlikely that May & Jere have any children.
There area a number of newspaper references to Jere H Cason and Mrs Cason in Mexia, Texas throughout the 1920s. In 1924, there is a notice that Mrs. Cason was summoned to her mother's sick bed in San Antonio. Her parents did, in fact, live in San Antonio at that time. So, this could very well be them. I initially did not think it was since he seemed young to be the secretary of the Chamber of Commerce. But Mexia isn't really a big place, so maybe so.
Following through all the newspaper stories in Mexia, Jere & May were clearly in Mexia during at leats 1924 & 1925. There is a reference to Jere moving his family from one home to another. That might indicate a child, but by 1930, there was no child in the home.
There are also numerous trips to San Antonio for May to her mother's sick bed.
I would still like to find a marriage record for Jere & May. Could have been in Mexia or more likely was in Huntsville, where May was living with Jere's parents.
In 1920, city directories show Jere in Wichita Falls but does not mention May. In 1921, he is working in Dallas. No mention of May. But, by 1930, he is working in Ft. Worth and married. The two of them are listed in the 1928 city directory as well. Not in Dallas or Ft Worth in 1923 or 1922.

Notes:
In the 1920 census, he may be enumerated as J. Wills Higgs in the household of Viola Stepp, Idabel, McCurtain Co., Oklahoma.
From Mary Higgs Thompson
Hi Scott! Good to hear from you. Oddly enough, I have some old letters from Lida Higgs (Granny) to "My dear Ida" that I have been intending to transcribe in my retirement, but of course my retirement has been so busy I haven't had time to even read them all closely. But there is one from May 4, 1932 saying that Jere Will's marriage to Miss Langley had been a "ghastly mistake." He had all along intended for his mother to stay with him and take care of "the baby" Jere and this caused no small amount of havoc in the household -- so they got divorced.
AND. there was another marriage, to Mrs. Vesta Littlefield. They got married after meeting at Sulphur Springs (Texas?). Her husband was killed about 2 years before and she had three children ranging in age from 8 to 5. This letter was dated Feb. 5, 1936. She was apparently quite sickly with kidney and "female" troubles, but I don't have anything about what happened to her.
And yes, Florence had been married to Mr. Hill. He was the father of Florence's two girls, Daisy and Judy. Judy is still alive, but Daisy died a while back. I don't know anything about him except my cousin Cindy Clendenen, Daisy's daughter, says he was not a nice man, so maybe he and Florence got divorced. I also always wondered if he was a Hill that was connected with Gifford Hill, the company that Jere Will worked for?
Anyway, Granny did love to write long interesting letters! I am still planning to transcribe them, turn them into a screen play !?

Lee Inc. and worked as a consultant in private practice, retiring in 2007. To commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Offshore Industry, in 1997 he was named by the Offshore Technology Conference as one of four individuals to receive the Offshore Heritage Award. Died:
Thomas D. Finney Jr., 52, a Washington lawyer who had been associated with a number of top political figures, died Monday at his home in Bethesda.
He suffered from amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, better known as Lou Gehrig's disease.
He was a member of the prestigious law firm of Clifford, Glass, McIlwain and Finney, which he had joined in 1963. He had not practiced law actively, however, for the last eight months.
Mr. Finney came to Washington in 1957 as administrative assistant to Sen. A.S. Mike Monroney (D-Okia.), remaining in that position until 1963.
He built a reputation as a politician and legislative strategists, and during this period was a major author of the Federal Aviation Act.
In 1960, Mr. Finney worked with Adlai E. Stevenson and organized the remarkable gallery demonstration for Stevenson at the Democratic convention that year.Later, the victor, President John F. Kennedy, borrowed Mr. Finney to work on the Trade Expansion Act, which Mr. Kennedy considered one of his most outstanding achievements. Mr. Finney advised the president as a member of his Task Force on Foreign Policy, as deputy special assistant to the president for Foreign Trade Policy and as director of congressional liaison for the Trade Expansion Act.
In 1964, President Lyndon B. Johnson asked Mr. Finney to go to Mississippi with Allen Dulles when disorders develop there involving the registration of black voters.
Mr. Finney recommended the FBI agents be sent to the rural counties of Mississippi to monitor the registration. That same year he was special counsel to the credentials committee at the Democratic National Convention in Atlantic City.
Mr. Finney was credited with being among the key figures who helped solve the politically explosive dispute over which a delegation from Mississippi would be recognized.
In 1968, Mr. Finney took a leave of absence from his law firm to work in the presidential campaign of Eugene McCarthy. He was considered to have the most political expertise in the organization.
Mr. Finney directed McCarthy's primary victory over Robert Kennedy in Oregon, visited the Kennedy family when Robert Kennedy was assassinated and remained the McCarthy liaison with Kennedy's followers.
Born in Idabel, Okla., Mr. Finney served as a Navy officer toward the end of World War II and then earned a bachelor's degree in political science from the University of Oklahoma where he received a law degree in 1948.
He practised in Idabel for three years with his father, the late Thomas D. Finney, a pioneer trial lawyer. He then served with the Central Intelligence Agency in Copenhagen, Denmark, from 1952 to 1955.
Before joining Sen. Monroney in Washington, Mr. Finney was in private law practise in Oklahoma City.
He was a director of Continental Airlines and general counsel to the Proprietary Association. He was a trustee of the Citizens' Research Foundation.
Mr. Finney was a member of the American, Oklahoma, D.C. and Federal Bar associations, the American Judicature Society, Phi Delta Phi legal fraternity, the National Lawyers Club and the Federal City Club.
He is survived by his wife, Sally Van Horn Finney, daughters, Susan Ford of Oklahoma City, and the Rev. Kathleen Finney, of Roanoke.; Va.; his mother, Bettie Higgs Finney, of Idabel, and two grandchildren.
The family suggests that expressions of sympathy be in the form of contributions to the Washington Hospice Society or the Thomas D. Finney Memorial Fund at Washington Cathedral.Family/Spouse: Sally Van Horn. Sally (daughter of Walker William Van Horn and Dorothy Daisy Deuel) was born on 22 Mar 1924; died on 3 Jun 1984 in Washington, District of Columbia, United States; was buried in 1984 in Washington, District of Columbia, United States. Notes:
Some years ago, Mom found an address for Buford Turner, 903 N. Main St., San Angelo, TX 76903, (325) 659-5481.
In Jere's obituary, it says that she was born in Memphis and that her family moved to Abilene when she was young. But both of her parents were from Dallas, so it appears she was really from there.
It also fails to mention her first marriage to Guy Windsor in 1943.
There were no descendants listed in the obituary, so I assume she had no children. She also had no full siblings.
Jere & Guy married in 1943 and divorced in 1947 with no children. It appears she did not remarry until 1968. Then after her spouse died, she married a 3rd time in 1979. Across all three marriages, Jere had no children.
