- While this catalog says that it was published in 1845, at the end, it includes individual catalogs for several subsequent years, including 1845 when Giles P. Bailey graduated. At this point, he was living in Rockingham County, NC.
In medical school, his graduation essay was on amenorrhea.

- In the 1880 census, Otway's children are living with Giles while Otway is away working. The girl is missing, possibly not having survived. There are a number of black servants in the house that appear to be listed in wills from Giles parents.
