  	There is a note in the Bridgewater list of births for "Jerusha, w. Joseph Hooper, Apr 19, 1783" that is cited from a private record group. The Compiled Birth, Marriage, and Death transcription lists him as Job. I suspect that is a transcription error.

Enumeration (Joseph Hooper 2nd): 0010001-0001001 Enumeration (John Hooper): 00001001-000000001 Enumeration (Joseph Hooper): 000010001-00001 Enumeration (Joseph Hooper Jr): 000001-100001 So, I am not certain which of these 3 is Joseph, but one I believe is.

  He was an ironworker, a gunsmith by trade. In early life he shipped on a whaling vessel and was wrecked on the Sandwich Islands, where his skill in ironwork saved his life. But he was guarded whenever a vessel was in port so that he could not escape for quite a length of time. He at length succeeded in getting away and returning home. The time and place of his death are not known to his descendants. From Hooper Genealogy: 2. Joseph (John, John, John, John, William), born at Bridgewater, Dec. 24, 1780; married at Duxbury, March 15, 181 1, Jerusha, daughter of Cornelius and Jerusha (Bryant) Ellis, born at Middleborough, April 19, 1781, died at Bridgewater, Jan. 20, 1870.
