served in in the South Carolina Militia |
- According to the Audited Accounts of the State of South Carolina, Mr. George Wren received 7 L 14 S 3 P for militia service in 1780 pursuant to an act of the General Assembly passed the 16th of March 1783. He was paid 9 XXXX 1785. He signed for his pay with his mark.
In 1791, he petitioned for his brother Theodore's back pay as well to the House of Representatives.
A committee of the House investigated this and determined that indeed Theodore did die in the service to the state during the Revolution and George Wren should receive his pay. So, this document provides proof of both George & Theodore's service.
