  • Notes 
    • This family is the only one where a Mary J. Sartain of the right age appears. However, many researchers show that Mary Jane Sartain died in 1874 unmarried. The only references to her marriage are to a Benj. Sexton or link to my previous guess of a marriage to Thomas M. Higgs (which seems to be incorrect).

      A search of the 1860 census in the area where the family lived in 1870 shows many of the neighbors, but not any of the Sartains (generally indexed as Lartain in 1860) or Sextons that connected to Sartains.
