- EUGENIA LEE OBITUARY
Eugenia Humphreys Lee passed away on February 7, 2023 at the age of 95. She was born on March 29, 1927 in Clarksville, TX to the late Samuel M. Humphreys and Mary Sudie Humphreys. She grew up in Fort Worth and earned her Bachelor of Arts in Industrial Arts and Sociology at the Texas State College for Women (now TWU). She was voted a Texas A&M Aggie Sweetheart. Eugenia worked as a draftsman for the Humble Oil Company in Houston, where she met Griff Lee. They married in 1950 and moved to New Orleans in 1954, where they both lived the rest of their lives. She volunteered at Baptist Hospital (now Ochsner Baptist) for 25 years. Eugenia was a member of the St. Charles Avenue Presbyterian Church and their Couples Club, where they made lifelong friends. She was also a member of the New Orleans Country Club, Orléans Club, Let's Dance Club, and PEO Chapter Q. In addition, she enjoyed tennis, bridge, dancing, skiing, and taking cruises. She is preceded in death by: her husband of 67 years, Griff C. Lee, Jr.; her parents; her sister, Julia Ann Renken; and her brother, Robert H. Humphreys. Eugenia is survived by: her daughter, Carol L. Coiron (John); her sons, Griff C. Lee, III and Robert H. Lee; and her grandchild, Eric Lee Desforges. The family would like to give special thanks to her dedicated sitters and to Heart of Hospice for their care. A visitation will be held on Saturday, February 11 at 12:30 p.m. at 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd. New Orleans, LA 70121. A 2:00 p.m. funeral service will immediately follow visitation, and interment is to take place in Lake Lawn Park. In lieu of flowers, donations are requested in Eugenia's honor to St. Charles Ave. Presbyterian Church in New Orleans or to Heart of Hospice in Gretna.
