• Notes

  In trying to figure out where Ethel and Robert might have met,Granddad said that Ethel came to Ft. Smith from Yell County to attend a business college as a young woman. Presumably, that put her in Ft.Smith where she met Robert. Granddad says that while his parents were never overly affectionate in public toward one another, it was always evident that they loved each other. He said that once in a while if he and Richard might come back from playing early, they would find their parents sitting on the porch with Ethel sitting in Robert's lap.
