  	Strangely, Nancy is enumerated as the mother of 3 children, all living, when in fact she had many more. I suspect someone misunderstood the question. She reported both of her parents being from Georgia.

  	Nancy Ann Buckner was the daughter of Eli Franklin and Eliza Buckner, who settled in Rusk County, Texas, in the early 1850s. Nancy Ann married Andrew Jackson Welch on Sept. 30, 1856, and they had 11 children: Sarah Ann, Martha Jane, Eli Franklin, Mary Elizabeth, Ellen Telula, Nancy Amanda, Priscilla Aquila, Anna Julia, Georgia Eliza, Myrtis Pamila, and Melinda Texana. Nancy and A.J. were very active in their community, and were members of Zion Hill Baptist Church. Nancy died on Aug. 22, 1911, and was buried in the Welch Cemetery at A.J.'s side.
