Notes - THere is notation in Ancestry trees that David Poovey died in 1873.
It apepars that there is an 1840 census record for him in Burke County,NC. This is strange since he supposedly married in SC in 1839. I have to research this more.
There are Confederate State Troops records. These would be the older troops guarding the cities and towns - sort of the militia auxilliary.
In 1870, it appears that David is still in SC but the rest of the family had moved on to Texas. Not quite sure about this. If he died in 1873, that's feasible. Maybe they were estranged.
I am going to pause here and pursue other lines.
Things to look for next:
- land records & tax records in SC
- probate records in SC
- census records for other Pooveys in NC, likely Burke or Mechlenburg Counties.
I wonder if Lucretia and some of the children moved to Texas after David died, or before.
- THere is notation in Ancestry trees that David Poovey died in 1873.
