  From Frank H. Smith's History of Maury Co., TN:" When Campbell's Co was halted in the advance of Fort donelson fight, Feb 1862, Winn went forward in a miss. Regt. further to the front and was senn no more. Prisoners of Miss regt at Camp Douglas described such a stranger in their ranks and his burial. Onely one of this compnay killed or wounded at Fort Donelson." His brother Joseph Thomas Winn apparently said DeWitt was with AlbertSydney Johnston at Battle of Shiloh and died there. --Other Fields RFN: 78
