  • Notes
    • Buried Fairmont Cemetery, Newark. Death information from obituary, Newark Evening News, July 27, 1906.

      Son's baptismal record indicates Jacob was born in Italy, not Switzerland.

      1900 NJ census gives Switzerland as birthplace, also birthplace of father and mother; married 27 years, in the US since 1867; occupation iron builder.

      1887 Report of City Officers of the City of Newark, NJ-
      Apr 7 Franciska Reglin complainant-Jacob arrested; plead not guilty; gave $250 bond for trial on May 1;
      June 27-tried by Court and jury, jury disagreed;
      July 20- case tried by court and jury- defendant convicted, ordered to pay $5 per week. Bond already given, defendant discharged.
      July 20- Notice of appeal given;
      Sept 23- case heard by Quarter Sessions Court without a jury, defendant found not guilty. (No idea what this is about!)

      When Franciska identified Jacob as personal of interest in attempt to blow up somebody (in London?), this book tells the story: Dynamite, Treason & Plot: Terrorism in Victorian & Edwardian London by Simon Webb. (Somebody else was later arrested.)
