• Notes

  There are several trees on Ancestry that claim that E. Maurice Huckaby is Egbert Maurice Huckaby, and that he lived in Cuba, went to China as a surgeon in 1905. In 1900, however, he was a cook in a restaurant in Ellis County, with no indication that he was schooling for surgery or had been working a lot. It does appear that he and Fannie married in Rusk County in 1905. And they both appear to have died in 1908. His death is shown as 3 May 1908 and her tombstone says only Fall 1908 and was added later to the grave. However, the ships manifest sailing home from Shanghai to San Francisco, in Honolulu, records Dr. Egbert M. Huckaby, age 32 and Mrs. Fannie R. Huckaby, age 23, arriving in Honolulu Feb 1907.
