| The W.I. Hutson in this enumeration, I believe to be the correct one, but am not absolutely positive. He and his wife are both listed as born in SC, while I know that William Irvin was born in Fulton. However, he is the only Hudson in the district where I am confident that he lived. | Hudson, William Irvin (I3787)

| The Webster Tribune gives the following account of a tragedy that occurred in Ringgold on the 13th instant: The town of Ringgold, in Bienville parish, was the scene of a terrible tragedy last Sunday evening. As Thos. Shehee, a young man well known in Minden, was coming down the street, Mr. Locket stepped out of a store-door, drew a pistol from his pocket and said, "Tom, you have ruined my sister and I am going to kill you." He instantly opened fire on shehee, who as quickly as possible, drew a revolver from his pocket and returned the fire. Locket shot Shehee through his right breast, his left and right arms, breaking the latter. As soon as Shehee saw that is arm was broken, he tried to run, when Locket shot him in the back, the ball coming out at his left breast, just above the heart. Shehee then fell, and Locket turning, made his escape. These young men are members of families of high standing. Their fathers are the leading merchants of Ringgold. It seems that Mr. Thomas Shehee had been engaged to Miss Locket for two or three years. The impression of the whole community was that they were to marry. Some time since Shehee stopped his attentions, and soon afterwards married a Miss Baker, near Mt. Lebanon. - Shreveport Daily Times, 22 Feb 1881 The Louisiana Democrat of Alexandria adds Mr. Shehee is well known in Alexandria, having been employed as a telegraph operator at this point a few years back. - The Louisiana Democrat, Alexandria, Louisiana, 9 Mar 1881 The Shreveport Daily Times continues: A few months ago Keet Lockett of Ringgold, Bienville parish, killed Thos. Shehee, of that place. It was alleged that the latter seduced Lockett's sister. last week the grand jury of that parish failed to indict Lockett. - Shreveport Daily Times, 19 May 1881 | Shehee, Henry Thomas (I9599)

| There are a number of letters to a Hume F. Hill of Memphis, Tennessee in the family papers. I believe this is an uncle of Hume F. Bailey, and his namesake. Hume appears to have married in New York and had a daughter, Augusta, there (or a step-daughter). He is a Justice of the Peace in Memphis by 1850. He also appears in the 1860 Memphis Census. | Hill, Hume F. (I6894)
| There are lots of unaccounted folks in this census. Cynthia E Biggers, age 26, born Miss. Susan F Biggers, age 9, born Miss Joseph W Biggers, age 7, born Miss Jo. A. Coleman, age 13, born Miss - Listed as grandson in 1880 Emily C Biggers, age 10, born Miss Susan A Biggers, age 3, born Miss | Biggers, Robert Hosea (I928)
| There are several trees on Ancestry that claim that E. Maurice Huckaby is Egbert Maurice Huckaby, and that he lived in Cuba, went to China as a surgeon in 1905. In 1900, however, he was a cook in a restaurant in Ellis County, with no indication that he was schooling for surgery or had been working a lot. It does appear that he and Fannie married in Rusk County in 1905. And they both appear to have died in 1908. His death is shown as 3 May 1908 and her tombstone says only Fall 1908 and was added later to the grave. However, the ships manifest sailing home from Shanghai to San Francisco, in Honolulu, records Dr. Egbert M. Huckaby, age 32 and Mrs. Fannie R. Huckaby, age 23, arriving in Honolulu Feb 1907. | Huckaby, E. Maurice (I10126)
| There are three Joseph Hoopers and a John Hooper in Bridgewater in 1830. I believe that means dad, son, uncle, and grandson. Enumeration (Joseph Hooper 2nd): 0010001-0001001 Enumeration (John Hooper): 00001001-000000001 Enumeration (Joseph Hooper): 000010001-00001 Enumeration (Joseph Hooper Jr): 000001-100001 So, I am not certain which of these 3 is Joseph, but one I believe is. | Hooper, Joseph (I7071)

| There are two competing theories as to the parents of Louis Deshazo. The first is that he is the son of Peter Deshazo, b. abt 1730 in King & Queen Co., Virginia, and Rebecca Pendleton. This line is hesitantly proposed by Aubrey S. Jennings and Nancy Deshazo Jennings as well as General Tom Deshazo. The second theory, set out by Zuber, is that Louis is the son of Robert Deshazo and Mary Trevallian. Robert is said to be the son of a Nathaniel (Nathan?) and the grandson of Peter, the immigrant. I would generally support the second theory over the first, but hope we can find better documentation of it. TODO: Clean up and provide sources for both possible lines of descent. See Zuber doc, B. Yamagami's web site at http://www.geocities.com/Heartland/Valley/3220/ and Jennings book Presumably, Louis and his family were in Putnam County, Georgia by 1806. Likewise, it is to be expected that the King family moved with the Deshazo family from Virginia since there were a number of King marriages in Putnam. He is most frequently seen as Lewis Deshazo rather than Louis Deshazo. In the early Putnam county records, there are a number of marriages for Deshazo women around 1815 - Luraney, Nancy Probate records are available on Family Search in file 67D in the Putnam Co., Estate Records file. But, images are broken when downloaded. See link https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1:3QS7-993Y-96KC?i=639&cc=1999178&cat=294892 William H. Deshazo and William King are administrators of his estate. I suspect William King is Nancy's brother. | Deshazo, Lewis (I2509)
| There are two Edmund Hames in Union County, SC in 1830, one noted as Junr. The older one's enumeration fits here. Enumeration: 00002001-00000001, 26 slaves, 30 people | Hames, Edmund (I3237)

| There is a death record in 1845 for a Benjamin Peterson, age 8, listed as son of Franklin. Another record says he could be the son of Washington. But, since this Benjamin appears in the same family as Franklin and the rest of the family in 1855, I really do not believe the 1845 Benjamin is this one. | Peterson, Benjamin F. (I7045)
| There is a deed from Moses Nelson to John & Micajah Hollis in 1811. Seems more likely that this is the two brothers than the father and the son. Index to Deeds, 1804-1840 Moses Nelson to John & M Hollis, Book H, p. 148 | Hollis, John (I3640)
| There is a George Rigney in the 1850 census of Blount County, Alabama, but by then, Mary is not in the home, nor is any wife. In 1870, it appears that George is again alone in the household of a Francis & Rebecca Bryant, a young couple. I would suspect he is a lodger rather than a family member. | Rigney, George Washington (I5329)
| There is a granddaughter, Nell Green (?) listed in the 1930 census in this house. I cannot tell yet which daughter she belongs to. | Hudson, Charles David (I3729)
| There is a James Biggers enumerated in the 1850 US Census in York County, SC that could be this person. It calls into question his birthplace, however. There is a young Elisha Robinson in the household, who could be a stepson or nephew or something like that. | Biggers, James (I914)
| There is a Lydia Thayer listed in the 1850 census of mortality schedule in Randolph, Mass. This is not her. Appears to be married to a Joel. |

| There is a note in Scituate of Sarah Cowen, d. Israel, dec'd Jan 5 1718. This is clearly not her, but could be a previous sister. It looks like there are several generations of Israel Cowen / Cowing's, maybe with daughters Sarah in Scituate. I wonder if they might be Jewish. | Cowen, Sarah (I8648)
| There is a note in the Bridgewater list of births for "Jerusha, w. Joseph Hooper, Apr 19, 1783" that is cited from a private record group. The Compiled Birth, Marriage, and Death transcription lists him as Job. I suspect that is a transcription error. | Hooper, Joseph (I7071)
| There is a Paul Reeves in the SSDI, 518-01-8759, b. 9 Jun 1897, d Apr 1980, Texarkana, TX. SSN issued in Idaho before 1951. I believe this is Paul. | Hudson, Paul Reeves (I3772)

| There is a Rowan County marriage record on 10 Jan 1791 for Mary Tranham and Jesse Rickmon. I suspect that this is the Mary named in Martin Trentham's will. This would lead me to suspect that, if John Hollis married a Mary Trantham, that she would perhaps be Martin's sister, in order to make the ages work out. | Family: John Hollis / Mary (F1107)
| There is a Solomon Bridges in the 1820 Oglethorpe County census Enumeration: 011201-31010-0-10-0-0-0000-1000 So, 3 male children, 1 male adult > 45, 4 female children, 1 adult female 26-45, and 1 young female slave. There is also a Solomon Bridges enumerated in Gwinnett County, Page 212 Enumeration: 300011-20100-0-1-0-0, no slaves. Since this Bridges family stayed pretty well rooted in Oglethorpe, I believe this Gwinnett Solomon is not ours. | Bridges, Solomon (I1224)
| There is a will in Union County Will Book B for John Foster, married to Hannah. I believe that this is that John Foster. | Foster, John (I2968)

The next house down is Bob Blackburn. There is a will for a John Dixon in 1900 that lists Bob Blackburn as his father in law. I am not sure who this John Dickson is, unless he is the John Dickson that I have called mine. | Johnson, Eliza W. (I3954)
| There is an Ira T. Higgs listed in the 1909 City directory for Kansas City, Missouri. He is listed as a salesman for Schrader & Toller. This would be in between Ira's two terms as coroner for Crawford County. I am not sure that this is really our Ira, but Ira T. Higgs is a fairly uncommon name. Moreover, there are several other Higgs folks in the directory along with him. This might bear further research. | Higgs, Ira Thomas (I3529)
| There is an Isaac & Frances Padgett, ages 56 & 52, living 2 doors away. These could be Meredith's parents. | Padgett, Meredith (I7993)

| There is no 1794 personal property tax return for Elizabeth Hill. Likewise for 1795. Therefore, none of the children appear, either. However, there is still a real estate tax being paid. One possibility is that Elizabeth has died and the boys are living with their guardians. Or they moved. Or they were missed. 1787 - personal, no real estate 1788 - personal, no real estate 1789 - personal, no real estate 1790 - personal and real estate 1791 - personal and real estate 1792 - personal and real estate 1793 - personal and real estate 1794 - no personal, paid real estate 1795 - no personal, paid real estate 1796 - no personal, paid real estate 1797 - no personal, paid real estate 1798 - no personal, paid real estate no occurrences after 1798. | Elizabeth (I9527)

| Theresa was younger than Ralph. She died of lukemia years ago. | Shiflett, Theresa (I5615)

| These dates possible go with this person. Dorman has some doubt. Robert served several tours in the Goochland militia during theRevolutionary War. | Pleasants, Robert (I5128)
