| Some census record his birth as Arkansas, but his draft card says Mississippi. | Dickson, Walter Joseph (I2603)
| Some censuses list her as Bama S. I believe she could have been Stella Bama or Bama Stella. It also appears that she married a second time to Mr. Hill or Mr. Hall around 1970. But she is buried with her first husband with his name. | Tennyson, Bama (I5942)
| Some documents call her Alice. Others call her Alleen Anita. Her tombstone says Alline Arneta. | Wren, Alline Arneta (I6657)
| Some documents mistakenly refer to Wilson Carter as Nelson. | Carter, Wilson C. (I1387)
| Some family stories tell that he settled near Stockton, California but that must be someone else. However, if his wife remarried, then he presumably died rather than went west. | Wren, Thomas Dossey (I6758)
| Some family trees call her Mary Frances Elizabeth, which would fit with the 1850 census and with the fact that her daughter had 2 middle names. | Phelps, Mary Frances Elizabeth (I5033)
| Some notes say the marriage was about 1860. This calls into question Mary's birth date. | Family: Daniel D. Moriarty / Ellen Connor (F1413)
| Some of Mildred and Norvelle's notes called him Roland and his son Roland Jr. However, the marriage record for Ruby Purtle says Lee Dendy. The Lee Dendy record is clearly not the right person. | Dendy, Roland (I2429)
| Some of the other Sartain families around Limestone county came out of Jefferson and Knox counties in Tennessee. Alfred Sartain came out of South Carolina to Alabama (Where was he in 1860, 1870, 1880?). Likewise, there were Higgs families in east Tennessee. Investigate these movements, too. Did Mary apply for a widow's pension after Thomas died? Consider strongly that Mary J. was part of Alfred M. Sartain's family listed in the 1850 Census. A number of trees on Ancestry all show that the Mary J. Sartain in Alfred's family died in 1874 in Tuscaloosa, AL after marrying a man named Shelton. While no proofs have been shown for this, I would suspect that this might *not* be the correct family for Mary Sartain. There was a Sartain family was involved with a publishing firm near Philadelphia before the Civil War. They published a magazine called_Sartain's Magazine_, but were best known for fine engravings. Old Miss has an engraving of Jefferson Davis made by Sartain Publ. Co.. I have found no evidence yet to connect the Philadelphia Sartains to this line.Probably, the Sartain magazine was called Sartain's Union Magazine of Literature and Art. This magazine was published from October 1847 until August 1852 in New York and Philadelphia. It is available on Microform in Pattee Library. We were unable to find the graves of Mary Sartain or her husband in Washington, AR. Many of the stones in the old cemetery there have been destroyed. At one point, Nannie went there with Mom and Jennie to try to find the graves. She seemed to think that the place that she recalled the graves being was in the back corner of the cemetery and could now be in the road. According to people at the Old Washington Park, many of the stones and graves have been destroyed. Is it possible that Mary remarried after the death of T.M. Higgs? N4, h2 Some sources date birth in 1837 -- MERGED NOTE ------------ I believe this to be the Mary who married T.M. Higgs, but until I prove that, I will keep these trees separate. Page Nichols tells that she recalls her ancestors telling her that Susannah Sartain (her great-grandmother) was Mary's sister and that Suannah lived with Mary & Thomas Higgs for a while. There is another Mary Jane Sartain who married Benjamin Franklin Sexton in 1856 in Tuscaloosa. However, the marriage record clearly states that she is the child of Jacob Sartain, not Alfred. That means that in addition to Jacob, father of Alfred, there is another Jacob, who is likely brother of Alfred, floating around. | Sartain, Mary J. (I5460)
| Some people give her a middle name of Belmont. As a result, they claim that she was the widow of John Hill rather than his daughter. Mecklenburg records prove conclusively that she was John Hill's daughter, not wife. However, the middle name has not been clearly documented. | Hill, Evalina B. (I3552)
| Some record Mary as Sharp, but Faver's brother John M Cason married an Ann Tharp. See Rutherford County Chancery Court loose cases. There is a case where Faver and Mary sue the rest of the descendants of her mother in an inheritance case. | Tharp, Mary H. (I5557)
| Some records call her Adeline R. Sears, possibly from a previous marriage. | Phillips, Adeline R. (I8527)
| Some records hint at a second marriage around 1850-1855 to Ann. | Deshazo, Wilkin (I2540)
| Some records list this as 1676. | Keith, Samuel (I8684)
| Some records say death was 7 Apr 1956, but death certificate says 23 Apr 1956. | Deshazo, Samuel Larkin (I2538)
| Some records show her death as 1984. Her tombstone records it as 1985. | Woodul, Jamie (I6641)
| Some records, such as her marriage record, record her as Rosanna A. F. or Rose A. F. | Boyle, Rosanna Frances (I1110)
| Some references call her Anna Carolina | Vickers, Anna Carolina (I6202)
| Some researchers have suggested that Mary might be Mary Groom. However, other researchers have found the Mary Groom married to a John Hollis was some 100 years previous to this Mary. So, this is not the case. Likewise, some researchers have suggested that Mary was a Trantham, but no evidence has been presented for this hypothesis either. To date, Mary's identity and ancestry remain a mystery. It is presumed that Mary is buried in the Brawley's Fork cemetery along with John Hollis, her husband. CENSUS: Based on the enumeration of John Hollis, it would appear that this person occurs in that house. Ted Hollis says that Jesse Hollis, son of Mary & John, in NC lives next to a family that includes all of the names Micajah, Hudson, etc.that are repeated in the Hollis family. Teddy feels like this family is Mary's family and carries her name, but he was unable to recall immediately what that name was. (10 Jul 2010) | Mary (I4456)
| Some researchers, including Betty Wren, have suggested that Hardy Vickers had a middle name, Nixon. I am less inclined to believe this at present, since this was actually a name in his wife's family rather than his. | Vickers, Hardy (I6214)
| Some say her birth was 8 Dec 1894. Her tombstone says 1893. | Sutton, Glen Dora (I5844)
| Some say her death was 25 Nov 1992. Her tombstone says 27 Nov 1992. | Woodul, Julia (I6642)
| Some sources give 1899 as her birth. | de Hart, Lillian Juanita (I2399)
| Some sources give her death as 22 Apr. Her tombstone says 23 Apr. | Hudson, Ann Catherine (I3722)
| Some sources give his birth as 1890. | Wren, Stowe Lyle (I6754)
| Some sources give his birth as 19 Sep 1794 but his grave stone says 12 Sep 1793 BIRTH: IGI 7735608,73 | Bailey, Dr. Otway Licepious (I655)
| Some sources give his birth year as 1883, but his draft registration, which he personally provided, says 1881. I think I actually believe 1883. | Tennyson, Larkin (I5966)
| Some sources hint that her death happened in Hanover, but the Massachusetts Death Index says Braintree. | Ross, Rotha Alice (I5412)
| Some sources list birthplace as Petersburg, VA | Almand, Mary Ann (I316)
| Some sources list her as Susan A. Cooper, others as Susan Love Cooper, or at Susannah A. Cooper. | Cooper, Susan Love (I2089)
| Some sources list him as born in Spotsylvania Co., VA rather than in GA. | Almond, John (I411)
| Some sources list Peter's birthdate as August 1, others as August 14. Liz Layson uses August 14. His gravestone says 14 August 1812 | Almand, Peter Bennett (I347)
| Some sources mark this as 1816 not 1811. In particular, Liz Layson and Robert Hale say the date was 1816. CALLED: sometimes seen as Purmelia B. DOSSEY, sometimes Permelia DORSEY Permelia moved to Antlers in 1887 after the death of her husband,Peter Almand. She lived her last years with her son, Joseph Henry Almand and his family. Liz Layson says that Daniel Dossey is the father of Permelia. This is an area to be investigated. In the 1830 census of Jasper Co., GA, there is a Daniel Dorsey listed with one female age 10-15 in the house. Permelia would have been 14.There is a John Dossey who married Nancy L. Smith in Greene Co., GA on Jan 15 or 25, 1815. She died in Greene Co. on Sept 27, 1838 at the age of 42 years, 1 month, and 12 days, which would have put her birth date as August 15, 1796. She is buried in Greene Co, near Credville (rd. S925) 1/2 mile north of Liberty Church in the woods near Vick's Rd. There is a William J. Dofsee on the 1850 Census for Cobb Co., GA as being 28 years old. His family was living about 8 dwellings away from Purmelia and her family. If we assume that his name was misspelled or whatever, he could have been a brother or a cousin to Purmelia. | Dorsey, Permelia B. (I2633)
| Some sources mistakenly say Aunt Carrie died as an infant. Clearly not. | Wren, Carrie Camilla (I6675)
| Some sources note birthplace as Petersburg, VA | Almand, Martha Jane (I313)
| Some sources note her name as Seana R. | St. John, Senna (I5787)
| Some sources note his birth as 1799. I am more inclined to believe the 1779 date. It is certainly in line with the 1850 census. | Page, John (I4901)
| Some sources note the death in 1873 instead of 1874. | Cooper, Micajah Thomas (I2071)
| Some sources place his death at 13 Aug, but his tombstone says 14 Aug. | Lane, Berry Tillman (I4166)
| Some sources put his birth in 1825. | Bridges, Herod Flourney Jr. (I1213)
| Some sources put his birth in 1831 in Panola, Texas. Putnam County, Georgia seems most likely. | Bridges, Henry Wharton (I1211)
| Some sources put his death in Hampton Parish, York County, Virginia. | Ware, Peter (I6359)
| Some sources put his death in Rappahannock County. | Ware, Peter Jr. (I6360)
| Some sources put his death in Tennessee. Others in Kentucky. In any case, it appears that in his later years, he moved to be with some of his children. | Bailey, Peter Cock (I660)
| Some sources record a second marriage for Rebecca to an Andrew Moore in Knox County, TN, but this does not make sense. The marriage isrecorded as 12 Aug 1812 in Knox Co, TN. If this were the case,Rebecca and Henry would have had to be divorced since he was still alive at that point. Likewise, she would have had to go east alone for this to happen. No mention of this was made in Elizabeth Cooper's Bible records. Also, were Rebecca to remarry, the record would have been recorded as Rebecca Cooper, not Rebecca Hollis. So, unless additional evidence comes to light, we will assume that this is another Rebecca Hollis. CENSUS: Based on the 1790 enumeration of John Hollis, it would appear that this person occurs in that house. Likewise, in the 1800, 1820, 1830 enumerations of Henry Cooper support her position in this household, but does not explicitly list her. | Hollis, Rebecca (I3655)
| Some sources record him as Dossey George WREN. Some sources call him Dorse. | Wren, George Dossey (I6695)
| Some sources record him as John SHERMAN, but based on original records, this seems unlikely. | Sherman, Francis A. (I5586)
| Some sources record this as 7 Jan 1852. | Garner, Catherine E. (I3098)
| Some sources record this marriage as 24 Jun 1779 | Family: Richard Page / Elizabeth Jones (F1247)
| Some sources report his death as March 8 or March 24. The Death certificate records it as March 16. | Higgs, Ira Thomas (I3529)
