3810 Personal property tax was generally collected on males older than 21. Since William is paying tax in 1785. Tax would have been assessed for the year he turned 21 and then paid the next year. So, born in 1763 or earlier. At that time, the part of Mecklenburg where the Bakers lived was Lunenburg. Baker, William (I729)

3816 Peter Bailey against Thomas Miller and Robert Mimms

The defts having filed their answers and thereby having denied the equity of the pltfs tort on the motion of the dfts by their counsel. It is ordered that the injunction obtained by the pltf to stay the proceedings on a judgment mentioned be _____ that the bill be dismissed and that the plft pay unto the dfts their costs.
Bailey, Peter Cock (I660)

3818 Peter Bailey applied for a pension due to his service in the Revolutionary War. He was living in Montgomery County, Tennessee at this point, which is why he appointed John Winkler as his attorney for the court actions in Meckenburg. It appears that he may have moved there as early as 1831, when he failed to appear in court in Mecklenburg on charges of passing counterfeit money. Bailey, Peter Cock (I660)

3822 Peter Bailey moves for a new trial in the action of Grief Green against him. Peter said that Grief had agreed to represent him in a recent criminal case (apparently the forgery incident) for $200 but then charged him $300. Green appeared in court of his on accord and released Peter of $100 of his debt and the movement was overruled. Bailey, Peter Cock (I660)

3823 Peter Bailey vs Abraham Keene
This is the second suit against Abraham Keene. Since he does not appear, default judgment is awarded to the plft.
Bailey, Peter Cock (I660)

3824 Peter Bailey vs Samuel Lockett
"It appearing to the satisfaction of the court that the pltf is not an inhabitant of this state and it is ordered that this suit be dismissed at the next court unless security for the payment of such cost and damages as may be awarded the said deft"

Is this not the same Peter Bailey who appeared in court the previous day? Or are the counterfeiting charges against Peter A. or a different Peter?
Bailey, Peter Cock (I660)

3835 Peter could have died in King & Queen Co., or York Co. Ware, Peter (I6359)

3836 Peter had previously sold a lot of his stock to his son and son-in-law, for which they still owed him money. He also owed a lot of people money, including Nathaniel Maclin (whom I think had prevailed over him in court for payment).

So, by this deed, Peter allows his sons to give him the stock that they bought back to him to satisfy their debts. Then, Peter will sell it and his personal property to satisfy Nathaniel Maclin's debt as well as other debts.
Bailey, Peter Cock (I660)

3837 Peter is buried in the Union Grove Cemetery, 2 miles s.e. of Blevins, AR.
