    Lincoln County Deed Book B

    Probate:
Letters of administration granted to Margarett & William Jemison

    Died:
Robert gave land to his daughter on 10 Dec 1799 in a way that sounds a lot like a will. On 7 Jan 1800, his wife applies for letters of administration. So, he died between 10 Dec 1799 and 7 Jan 1800.

Robert married Margaret Kirkham about 1775 in South Carolina, United States. Margaret (daughter of Henry Kirkham) was born in 1755; died in 1831. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]

    Other Events and Attributes:

    • _AMTID: 162485318053:1030:191555462
    • _FSFTID: L44K-V9P

    • Misc: 14 Nov 1800, Lincoln, Georgia, United States; as executrix for Robert Jemison, sold land to Basil Wheet

    Notes:

It appears that after Robert died, Margaret married a second time to William Hunter. In March 1803, Margaret makes her return of Robert's estate and is listed as Margaret Hunter. At that same court, William Hunter is appointed the guardian of Margaret's two youngest children.

There is a Robert Kirkham of Greene County, later of Twiggs County interacting with Ware, Jemison folks. Could be Margaret's brother

    Misc:
Margaret Jemison, executrix of the estate of Robert Jemison dec'd, to Basil Wheat. 14 Nov 1800. Deed for 312 acres, part of three original surveys, two to John Roberts and one to John Page, adjoining Cherokee Creek of Little Rover. Margaret Jemison signs by mark. Notes:

    Married:
The fact that Margaret is named as Robert's Executrix is a good case for her to be his wife.
