Then, in 1849, she married again to Covington Edmonson. In the 1850 census, she is listed as Mahala H. repeatedly, so that seems to be good evidence that she was born Hansen / Hanson.

In the name of God Amen I John ffavor of the County of Essex being sick and weak of body but good sound disposing memory praise be given to God for the same do make this my Last Will & Testament in manner and form following that is to say first and principally I resign my soul into the mercyfull hands of Almighty God my Creator assuredly hoping through the merits of my blessed Savior to obtain remission of all my Sins and my body I commit to the Earth whence it was taken to be buryed without any issue by my Exec. herein after named & as for my worldly goods & Estate the Lord hath lent me I dispose of as followth ,Imprimis
