The deed appears to use a template that includes an unnamed wife and allows for her to release her dower. But there are no names and no signatures of a wife. I have not found a marriage for P.D. Brewer before 1894.

    Notes:

    Military:
MILITARY: John O. Brewer was a Union soldier. He died in hospital as a result of disease before actually engaging in battle. According to Susan Dickson, he snuck home at one point early in his military enlistment to visit his wife. Her brother, an ardent Confederate, came to visit so John hid until he left because the brother said that if he saw him, he would shoot him as quick as any other Yankee. This story can only be partly true, since it appears that Sarah's family were Union supporters overall.

Interestingly, there is a John O. Brewer in the CSA Rivers' Battery, Arkansas Light Artillery and in the US Army, 1st Regt, Arkansas Infantry, Co. E, however, the Confederate Brewer served after the Union Brewer was already dead and was otherwise not the same person.

    Probate:
    Administrator bonds posted.

John married Sarah Louise Council on 23 Sep 1858. Sarah (daughter of Uriah Allison Council and Louisa Anna Green) was born on 29 Jan 1837 in Alabama, United States; died on 23 Mar 1915 in Fort Smith, Sebastian, Arkansas, United States; was buried in Hackett, Sebastian, Arkansas, United States. Census:
William L. Brewer and his family are enumerated in the 1850 census. The youngest child (as are all the children) is listed as born in Tennessee and he is listed as 2 years old at the time of the census. That would imply that the family moved to Arkansas sometime after 1848 and had not been in the are terribly long at the time of the census.

William married Elizabeth. Elizabeth was born in 1813 in Tennessee, United States; and died. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]

    Notes:

Some accounts say he was born in Greene Co., TN, others in Knox Co.TN.

PARENTS: could have been from TN or AL

Census says he was from TN, Sarah Council's death certificate says he was from Alabama.

It appears that Uriah died fairly early, leaving a wife with children. They then moved with his parents on to Arkansas. Based on the fact that Uriah's father is in Knox Co. in 1811, I might expect to find his birth there, or in Roane County where his parents were married.

DEED: Uriah Allison Council (U.A. Council) bought land in Roane Co.,Tennessee. Deed is in Book G, p. 47.

Based on the childrens' ages, it looks like they moved from Tennessee to Alabama between 1835 & 1837. Sarah Louise was born in AL, but her older sisters were born in TN.

    Birth:
Findagrave says he was born in Knox Co., Tennessee. I tend to believe this since his family lived in Knox at this point. Some the old books say Greene, but that has to be wrong.

    Notes:

Look into the possibility that Louisa's father could have been Berry Green and that they could have been in Roane County. There appears in a lot of Roane Co records a Berry Greene. Since she named a daughter Jane Berry, that name might have carried forward.

Berry is in 1810 in NC, 1850 in TN, maybe in 1830 in AL

    Notes:

According to Judson Councill, Isaac is found in Knox Co., Tennessee as early as 1811. He and Susan were married in Roane Co., Tennessee. They moved from Tennessee to Jackson Co., Alabama, then to Madison Co., Alabama. Eventually, they moved on to Arkansas, where both died at the home of their son John in Franklin Co., Arkansas.

In order to figure out the Council family and its connection to the Hodges Councils in Alabama, I need to track its movements through Tennessee, Alabama, Arkansas for this family and its descendants.

In the 1830 Census, the family is listed as 1 male 40-50, 1 female 40-50, 1 male 20-30, 2 males 10-15. Both girls are already out of the house at this point. Presumably, the male age 20-30 is Uriah. On page 333 of the 1830 census is Jesse Council, whose household includes 1 male 90-100 and 1 female 60-70 and no one else. This is a likely connection for Isaac's father.

In the 1840 Census, the family is listed as 1 male 50-60, 1 female 50-60, 1 male 20-30. Immediately next door is John Council(00011-00001). Chances are that this is the son John.

Some have suggested Isaac was born in Tennessee, but in the 1860 census, he reports as being from N. Carolina.

Unfortunately, census from Tennessee for 1800, 1810, 1820 are pretty much missing.

Over the time that we are looking for the Councils & Allisons, the area went from Green County, NC to State of Franklin to State of TN. And it appears that these folks were along the borders of Green, Knox, & Roane counties. Looks like the Allisons ended up in the part that became Roane but maybe the Councils were in Knox.

    Hypothesis for now: (2019-06-14)
Jesse Council is the father of Isaac. Jesse is married to Elizabeth. These two stay close together for several years.
Hodges, John, and Matthew may be other sons or brothers to Jesse. Hodges is married to Rachel.

    Misc:
Matthew & Isaac Council were arrested and tried by jury and convicted of trespass vi et armis and fined 25 cents each plus costs.
