2458 Huckaby, Sarah A to C.B. Cotton

Deed Book E, p 538
Lot 21 & 1/2 Lot 23 in Block 1, Town of Dardanelle

When Sarah sold this property, Alfred was certainly alive, but he was not involved in the sale. He sold other land after that, so just because he does not appear on her land transactions does not mean he has died.
Sarah A. (I9622)

2459 Hudson remained active with Agri Days in his sophomore year. He pledged and joined Kappa Sigma fraternity as well as continuing in Tri Eta. He was a member of the Press Club. And he continued to play football. Wren, Henry Hudson (I6703)

2460 Hugh is enumerated in the 1830 census in Knox Co., Tennessee -200001-00001. But, in both 1850 and 1830, there is a Hugh L Berry, of about the same age, enumerated in Knox County, TN. But, in 1850, Hugh C. Berry was in Alabama. So I am skeptical that the Hugh Berry of Knox Co., TN is actually this person in 1830.

Perhaps, chasing through the Berrys of Knox Co will help to solve the mystery of the Councils.
Berry, Hugh Campbell (I875)

2461 Hume Bailey was a devoted Union sympathizer during the Civil War. Since he was a widower with young sons, he was exempted by the Union army from service (Ft. Smith being a Union stronghold in an otherwise Confederate state). However, the Confederate army, when it moved into that part of Arkansas forced him to enlist on the threat of death. Susan Dickson says that he may have enlisted and then deserted at the first opportunity.

In the compiled service records, there are two jackets for H.F. Bailey, but no firm places are listed and the service appears to have been short in the Confederate army in any case. More research is needed.

Interestingly, there are a number of letters written to Hume F. Hill of Memphis, TN. These appear to be an uncle of Hume F. Bailey - the brother of his mother, perhaps.
Bailey, Hume Field (I614)

2462 Hume F. Bailey is a new machinist in the back shops. He went to work Monday morning. Bailey, Hume Field Jr. (I615)

2463 Hume F. Bailey, machinist, drew his time last Tuesday. Bailey, Hume Field Jr. (I615)

2464 Hume sent a letter home from Minden, Louisiana on 11 Jun 1930

The job situation was still hard here, so he and another old railroad machinist were trying to make a living fishing.
Bailey, Hume Field Jr. (I615)

2465 Hume sent a letter to his brother and family from Tomah, Wisconsin postmarked 15 Sept 1929. In it he said that he would be in LaCrosse in a few days and to use that as his post office for the time being. Bailey, Hume Field Jr. (I615)

2466 Humphrey Murphry of St. Peters Parish, South Carolina to Robert Ware
10 Oct 1799, Deed for a tract on Fishing Creek in Lincoln County adjoining NW James McClain, Wm Stokes, Senr, NE Jacob Zellar and S Nicholas Ware consisting of 550 acres based upon a warrant of John Stirk Esq, resurveyed by Benjamin Stikr, heir of John Stirk.
Witnessed: P. Moss, Isaiah Curry, Stith Barksdale, J.P.
Registered 31 Oct 1800
Pages 224-225
Ware, Robert (I9131)

2467 Husband's estate was sold based on the provisions of his will. Hence either she married or died. At age 90, I suspect she died. Moseley, Elizabeth (I4772)

2468 I am confident that this John Dickson is the one in Co. F. Co. F of the 33rd Mississippi Infantry was organized in Carthage, Leake Co., Mississippi. John was enumerated in the 1860 Census in this county, where Carthage was the county seat. I have not found any other John Dickson in the county.

Dickson, John H. (I2580)

2469 I am not at all sure why Richard might have been in Nebraska. Dickson, Richard Isaac (I2597)

2470 I am not certain that this is the correct Edna Johnson. Verify with Keith & Jennie Davis, Edna (I2389)

2471 I am not sure where a death date of 1919 came from. Death certificate is 1946 Vickers, Sarah Jane (I6914)

2472 I am not sure where I got 2 Nov 1901. Her gravestone says 16 Feb 1901 Almand, Willie B. (I407)

2473 At least one living or private individual is linked to this note - Details withheld. Bailey, Michael Phillip (I648)

2474 I am not sure where the name Henry N. Farror came from. The marriage record clearly says Henry O. Bailey. Bailey, Henry O. (I2860)

2475 I am not sure where this death date came from. But, in litigation against Peter in the 1830s, Sarah is mentioned over and over as a plaintiff. I believe that she was certainly alive into the mid-1830s. This needs to be detailed out.

In particular, deeds made in 1830 (Deed book 24, Mecklenburg County, p. 108) Peter Bailey and Sarah his wife sell land.

By the 1840 census, it appears that Peter is living with Elizabeth M.A. Bailey and her husband, but there is no older woman in the home. So, if this is Peter, then Sarah isn't there and has probably died.
Baker, Sarah (I727)

2476 I am not sure where this name comes from. It was in my records previously, but is in clear conflict with the original marriage records. Bailey, Henry O. (I2860)

2477 I am not yet sure whether the Peter Bailey listed is Peter the father or Peter the brother of William. But he signs as William H. Bailey, so that is likely this Wm. Bailey, William H. (I698)

2478 I am not yet sure who Margaret is in this family. Did Michael remarry after Rosanna died (in 1861)? Boyle, Michael (I1094)

2479 I am skeptical of the ages given in the 1900 Census. When Anson and Clara married in 1882, he was listed as 25 and she as 32 years old. Now, the nine years between them have narrowed to only three.

She reports that she has had a single child and that that child is still alive in 1900.
Hooper, Clarissa Holbrook (I7068)

2480 I am skeptical of this record. Dickson, Robert Harrison (I2598)

2481 I am skeptical of this record. There is another Robert Dickson who shows up in Texarkana that could be this person.

In the 1900 Census, Robert is enumerated as boarder and farm laborer east of Broken Bow, OK. One discrepancy is that his father is listed as being born in Georgia.
Dickson, Robert Harrison (I2598)

2482 I am unable to find a record of this marriage in Putnam County, which appears to have intact records during this period. Family: George Washington Wren / Sarah Bridges (F644)

2483 I am unable to find any census record for any of this family in the 1860 census. That being said, I do find Henry, with whom Leovisa lived, in 1870 without her. Unless she is living with other family in 1860 or 1870, I believe that she died between 1855 and 1860. I also believe that this is around the time that Henry decides to move. He ends up in Louisiana near some of his sister's family. Leovisa W. (I6298)

2484 I am unable to locate Alexander A. Vincent in the Tennessee 1850 Census.

Originally, I had recorded Alex' uncle Alex A. Vincent as the guardian of Adolphus and Peyton. But he died before the guardianship ended and there was no mention of a change in guardian. It makes more sense to have the older brother be the guardian in any case.

Many researchers have confused the Alex A born in 1792 with this Alex A, born around 1813. This A.A. Vincent married Rhoda A. E. Lynch. The 1792 A.A. married
Vincent, Alexander A. (I6262)

2485 I believe she is another daughter of Lewis Deshazo Family: William King / Lurany Deshazo (F3623)

2486 I believe the first Elizabeth must really have been Benjamin Frankin and this was the person referred to by Jane Bates. Peterson, Elizabeth Amelia (I8561)

2487 I believe this is the W.C. listed in the acts of the legislative council. Lester, William (I8787)

2488 I do not believe that Rebecca was born in Georgia. It appears that her family was in Laurens Co before and after her birth. It also makes little sense that they would go from Georgia back to South Carolina. Miller, Rebecca (I4656)

2489 I don't find Rachel in the 1840 Census, at least not with a simple search. There is a Rachel Council in Marion Co, TN in 1850.

There is a will for Benjamin Howard in Wilkes Co NC (WB 4, p 119) that has bequests to Rachel Council and Sarah Council. Did another of Hodges brothers marry a Howard?
Howard, Rachel (I9646)

2490 I don't know where this person came from. He seems very old for this family.

How is James Foster connected to the Page family? They are clearly associates.
Page, James Foster (I4900)

2491 I had always heard that this was a daughter, but the stone says just Tom, not Tommie, so I think he was a boy. Woodul, Tommie Wren (I6647)

2492 I had listed 1846, but it seems that most census and marriage records say 1836. Morgan, Bridget T. (I7058)

2493 I had originally assumed she was born in Maryland, but based on her birth date, it would be after the family arrived in Georgia.

1850 Census says she is 42. D.O.B. 1808
1860 Census says she is 54. D.O.B. 1806
1880 Census says she is 77 D.O.B. 1803
Shehee, Clarissa H. (I5569)

2494 I had seen sources that said this marriage occurred in 1834, but they must never have looked for the marriage record. Family: Peter Harmon Deshazo / Mary Mahan (F1257)

2495 At least one living or private individual is linked to this note - Details withheld. Dickson, Ronald Dean (I2601)

2496 I have always heard Ronualde or seen his name this way, but Phillipe's marriage record says Remerl and has the same for his middle name. LDDM says his name was in fact Romaulde. I think I believe the marriage records, though.

There seems to be some confusion as to the two wives of Romaulde Doucet. The LDDM says his first wife, and the mother of all of his children was Helene LeBlanc and his second wife was Bridget Roger. However, they give a marriage date of 23 Feb 1870 for the second marriage. Five children were born by the time of the second marriage and 9 additional after the date of the second marriage.
Doucett, Remerl (I2646)

2497 I have always thought that John had to have died by 1889 because his wife remarried to Jack A. Jones in 1890. However, he appears in the 1892 list of voters who have paid the poll tax. If he paid a poll tax in 1892, he had to be alive.

That means that perhaps there was a divorce between him and Martha.

Or the record of the voter list is wrong.

So, for now, I will note the new death date, but consider that he may have died before 1890.
Dickson, John H. (I2580)

2498 I have another fact showing that Hume was granted guardianship on 17 Oct 1876 in the court at Greenwood. However, this document shows that he was granted guardianship of Philip D. Brewer, a minor under the age of 14, on 30 March 1868 in Fort Smith. Bailey, Hume Field (I614)

2499 I have gone back and forth as to whether this is Peter C or Peter A Bailey. Based on the fact that there is a male 40-50 in the house, I believe it to be Peter C. That age is actually low for Peter C. He should be in the 50-60 bucket (like the WF enumerated), or even 60-70 if his Revolutionary Pension deposition is to be believed.

Enumeration:
WM < 5: 2 - grandchildren
WM 20-30: 2 - Peter A Bailey, William H Bailey
WM 40-50: 1 - Peter C Bailey (should be either 50-60 or 60-70)
WF < 5: 1 - grandchildren
WF 5-10: 2 - grandchildren
WF 15-20: 1 - Elizabeth M.A. Bailey
WF 50-60: 1 - Sarah Baker Bailey?
Slave M < 10: 2
Slave M 10-24: 1
Slave M 24-36: 1
Slave M 55-100: 4
Slave F < 10: 2
Slave F 10-24: 1
Slave F 55-100: 3
Free BM 24-36: 1

It seems important to figure out who the free black male is. Some slaves were listed with surnames. Perhaps this is significant.

FamilySearch film 007856178 has 2 volumes of Mecklenburg free negro registry for 1809-1840
Bailey, Peter Cock (I660)

2500 I have not found a record where Patrick and Mary actually immigrated to the US. Bridget may have come alone after their death in Ireland. Lyons, Patrick (I7050)
