2300 | Hattie Nash is found in the 1880 Census of Miller Co., AR, GarlandTownship. This is not terribly far from Washington in Hempstead Co.,the home of the Higgs family at that time. By the time of the 1880census, Hattie's father apparently had died or was otherwise not withthe family. Research Task: Find Hattie's father and familyinformation. Since Phinneas is 10 years old in the 1880 census, thefather should appear either in the 1870 US Census or the 1870Mortality schedule for Arkansas. Look for them in 1870, 1860. Theycould be in Hempstead Co., since Miller Co was not created until 1874. They could also be in Garland Co., since Ira's obituary says Hattie'sfamily is from the Hot Springs area. According to the 1900 Census, Hattie has a middle name that isillegible. Maybe Ruth. Her parents were born in Illinois. Though inthe 1880 census, Hattie's father is reportedly born in Tennessee. h5 | Nash, Harriet (I4806)
