    Notes:

    Birth:
1900 Census has a completely crazy birth date.
Findagrave says he was born in Newton County, Arkansas.

    Census:
This must be the correct William Tennyson. He and Martha have recently married. And he has been in this area for the last couple of years. But, the birth date for him is wrong. It says Oct 1872. His parents did not marry until 1874 and he was born in 1877. It also says he was born in Alabama with parents from somewhere unknown. It appears that someone else must have reported this information.

    Census:
Location is 1 house number off from where it had been for years. I think the census may have the wrong house number.

    Notes:

Lived in AR, around Polk county. Had a saw mill with Zenas TENNYSON. Bill died of blood poisoning. He got a splinter building a table. His wife took the splinter out with a needle. He then went on that day to butcher a hog. Perhaps he got infected then.

1870 Census lists him as Wm. J.B. Tennison and says he was born in Alabama.

    Died:
Why does this say Yell County? I thought he lived around Polk County. In 1880, he was in Pike County.

    • Misc: 21 Oct 1902, Stigler, Choctaw Nation, Indian Territory, United States; Rejected claim as member of Mississippi Choctaw Nation

    Notes:

Mary Susan Druscilla was 16 when she was married. The marriage to John W.B. Tennyson was not well thought of by either set of parents. To solve the problem of no consent, they sent a black man to the courthouse to get the marriage license. When he came back with it,they just crossed out the race, changed it to white, and got married. This marriage record has not yet been found, but it could be recorded as either black or white. Her first marriage could have been in Choctaw or Pontotoc Co, MS. After J.W.B. Tennyson died, she remarried to Mr. Phillips. He was not well liked by the first family and was regarded as a mean person by his stepchildren.

    Ref: [,1970,gm1]

    Birth:
Her second marriage lists that she was about 30 years old.

    Census:
The 1900 census lists her as Susan Phillips and her children Frank and Larkin as Phillips, though they retained the name Tennyson. She is listed as widowed, born Feb 1858 in Mississippi. She had had 5 children, 4 of whom are still living. All of these facts match the rest of what we know about her already.

    Residence:
"Mrs. M.S. Phillips has returned from Lancaster, where she went to visit her father J.W. Deshazo."
