    Birth:
    BIRTH: IGI 7320614,11

Enlistment is also seen as 10 May 1862, 15 May 1862.

    Military:
Signed an oath of loyalty to the US as a condition of his parole.

    Census:
The 1870 census enumerates Bennett as Bennett Osborn. The family matches, but appears to have been provided by someone outside the family due to the variations.

Notable variations include rough ages, a son William who is really a daughter Willie, Neliar instead of Ella, and an extra 1 year old son, John. This son, John, does not appear in other censuses.

Robert, born in July 1870, is not listed since the census date is earlier in the year.

All of this implies that the Almands moved to Arkansas no earlier than then fall of 1870.

    Census:
Enumerated as Bennett Osborn and family. This family includes all of the Almand family. This seems to have been provided by someone who didn't really know.

Interestingly, there is a Roda C. Smith on the Dawes Roll, Card 159, Roll 527 listed as Cherokee by blood, 1/16. She is listed with Bill Jones and Sarah Jones as Parent, but I am not sure what that means yet. She is listed as 50 years old, but the rolls were usually dated from 1902, or as early as 1898, so the age is wrong in any case. I doubt that this is this same Rhoda C. Smith, though it is possible given her location. Certainly by the time of the enrollment, she was not known as Rhoda C. Smith, but rather Rhoda C. Almand.

    Birth:
Rhoda is pretty consistent in reporting that she was born in Alabama in the Census.
    1850 - age 5, AL
    1860 - age 16, AL
    1870 - can't find
    1880 - age 36, AL, AL, GA
    1900 - age 56, AL, AL, AL
    1910 - age 66, AL, AL, GA

CALLED: sometimes seen as Purmelia B. DOSSEY, sometimes Permelia DORSEY

Permelia moved to Antlers in 1887 after the death of her husband,Peter Almand. She lived her last years with her son, Joseph Henry Almand and his family.

Liz Layson says that Daniel Dossey is the father of Permelia. This is an area to be investigated.

In the 1830 census of Jasper Co., GA, there is a Daniel Dorsey listed with one female age 10-15 in the house. Permelia would have been 14.There is a John Dossey who married Nancy L. Smith in Greene Co., GA on Jan 15 or 25, 1815. She died in Greene Co. on Sept 27, 1838 at the age of 42 years, 1 month, and 12 days, which would have put her birth date as August 15, 1796. She is buried in Greene Co, near Credville (rd. S925) 1/2 mile north of Liberty Church in the woods near Vick's Rd. There is a William J. Dofsee on the 1850 Census for Cobb Co., GA as being 28 years old. His family was living about 8 dwellings away from Purmelia and her family. If we assume that his name was misspelled or whatever, he could have been a brother or a cousin to Purmelia.

    Notes:

According to her daughter's 1910 census enumeration, she was born in Alabama. However the other census records all record her as from Georgia.

Perhaps a way to track her down is to find families in 1840 in Cobb or Paulding County, Georgia that she could fit into that are near to Smith families where Thomas would fit.

Backtracking with Millie Allen, we know the following:
Burial - 1893, Paulding County, Georgia
Death - 1893, Paulding County, Georgia
Residence - 1860-1893, Paulding County, Georgia
    Marriage 3 - 1865, Paulding County, Georgia
Residence - 1850, Cherokee Co, Alabama
Marriage 2 - before 1848 birth of her child, probably AL
    Birth of Rhoda - 1844 - AL
Marriage 1 - before 1843 birth of her child, GA or AL
Birth - about 1821, probably GA

So, as a hypothesis, Millie was born in GA around 1821. She married Thomas Smith around 1843 in Georgia. I suspect that they moved to Alabama, probably Cherokee County area. He died shortly afterward, probably without a will since he was likely very young and without property. Though having a daughter, there may have been a guardian appointed. But again, without property, perhaps not. Millie likely remarried fairly quickly, being young and with a child, to James Armer. He was a little older and had lost his wife and had young children to raise who needed a mother. He died after only a few years as well. Somehow, she ended up moving back to Paulding County, Georgia. What was the attraction back to Paulding and how did she end up there? Did she come alone?

Possibly, Millie and her family moved to Alabama and she married Thomas there, since Rhoda always reports that her father was from Alabama.

    Census:
Milly Armer is enumerated in 1860 in the home of J.S. and Charlotta Pool, along with Thomas Lacky. Milly is listed as 34 years old.

Charlotta is 52 and J.S. Pool (or Bool) is 68. Perhaps Charlotta / Charlotte is a sister to Milly. This is not a very common name but it crops up in this family quite a lot.

J.S. Pool is enumerated next door to E.W. Pool, age 33 (probably a son).

    Census:
In the 1870 census, Millie is recorded as Melia and as age 42.

    Census:
In the 1880 census, Milly reports that both her parents were born in Georgia. She also only reports herself to be 53 years old.
