    • Brought to Clinton Jail, on the 30th January last, a negro fellow, who calls his name Jerry, about 28 or 30 years of age, dark complexion. His back appears to be considerably, and has the appearance of being severely paddled, a well set fellow. He says that he belongs to Polly Thompkins, of Williamsburg, Virginia. And on the 19th February, 1828, an African Negro fellow, of a dark complexion, who calls himself Sam, about 28 or 30 years of age, speaks good English, two of his fore teeth out. Says he belongs to Nicholas Hawkins of Putnam County. (Signed) John Bridges, Jailor
