farmer - Interestingly, Carl is listed as (a) at home, and (b) a farmer in 1920. This is after he lost a leg and was in various hospitals for recovery and rehabilitation. I would also have thought it was after he had contracted TB.

Notes - Carl Everett never married and had no children.
Need to include Carl's story in more detail. Briefly, he enlisted in the Army before the US entered World War I. During training in New Mexico, he was run over by a truck and lost a leg. He spent a long time in hospitals and sanatoria to recuperate. At one, he ended up contracting tuberculosis and died from that at a young age.
Stationed at Eagle Pass, Texas (Fort Duncan, probably) on the Mexican Border along the Rio Grande
