2708 In the 1860 census, there is a Robert Huckaby, age 29, in the home of Uriah Mullins in Pickens County, Alabama. I doubt that this is this Robert, since it appears he went to Tennessee and his location was unknown at the time of his father's death. Huckaby, Robert (I10178)

Additionally, in the household are a Daniel Harrison, age 21, and a Delilah Bailey, age 35, black, with her children. It looks like one child is listed as mulatto and one black. Since this is 1870, no relationship is provided. These could be a family that were previously slaves of the family. It would be worth checking the slave schedules.

There are also several other Baileys living nearby. Check these against Otway Sr.'s will.
Bailey, Otway Licepious (I8087)

2719 In the 1880 census, he is recorded as maybe T. P. or G. P. Bailey Bailey, Pinck (I8110)

2720 In the 1880 Census, his first name looks a lot like Truley H. But it could be Franklin or another name starting with Fr..l... That's a stretch, but the transcriber's writing his hard to read and there are a number of overwritten marks. Moore, F. H. (I4728)

2721 In the 1880 census, Milly reports that both her parents were born in Georgia. She also only reports herself to be 53 years old. Allen, Millie (I158)

2722 In the 1880 census, Otway's children are living with Giles while Otway is away working. The girl is missing, possibly not having survived. There are a number of black servants in the house that appear to be listed in wills from Giles parents. Bailey, Dr. Giles Pinkney (I8089)

2724 In the 1880 tax roll for Travis County, Mrs. R A Vincent is assessed rather than Alexander. That would mean that he has died, presumably. Or else he has abandoned her after 50 years of marriage. I would side with the former rather than the latter. Vincent, Alexander A. (I6262)

2725 In the 1891 Census, there is an addition Marcelin Doucet, age 26, and wife Olive in the home. I cannot tell their relationship to the head of the household. Two doors down is Pete Doucet, age 54. Doucett, Remerl (I2646)

2728 In the 1900 Census, he is listed as Single. Is that correct, or should it really say Widowed? There is no mother present in the house. Both he and his parents are listed as being from Massachusetts. Peterson, Franklin (I7040)

2729 In the 1900 Census, he says he was born in March 1871. Other sources say 2 Apr 1871. His life insurance application says 21 Apr 1872.

His birth certificate, however, says 2 Apr 1871. Townland of Ahane, District of Glanbehy (Glenbeigh), Superintendent Registrar's of Caherciver, County Kerry, Ireland. Father: Daniel Moriarty, Mother Ellen Connor

2737 In the 1900 census, Macie Powell is enumerated with John & Mary as a niece. In 1910, she is still listed as Macie Powell, but is now listed as a daughter. Perhaps she was adopted by this couple. Page, John Richard (I4903)

2738 In the 1900 census, Maggie reports that she has had 2 children, both of whom are living. Wren, Maggie May (I6727)

2742 In the 1900 Census, this child is listed as P(something) E.T. Hudson. In 1910, she is listed as Ethel.

She went by the name Ethel, apparently.

"This daughter of Benjamin Franklin Pierce Mozley and Selina Laura Adair

Mother of at least three sons as of the 1930 census. The SS death record lists her as Ethel H. Mozley & the Georgia death record as Pearl E. Mozley. " - sf49erfanatic@ancestry
Hudson, Pearl Ethel T. (I3771)

2744 In the 1910 Census, Beulah is listed as having 5 children, 2 of whom are still alive. Shepherd, Beulah (I7186)

2745 In the 1910 Census, Cora is listed as married and having been married for 9 years, but Charlie is no where to be seen. Cora is also listed as having had 3 children, but only two are alive. Rotha, her middle daughter is not in the household. Hooper, Cora Stetson (I3677)

2747 In the 1910 census, Ellen is listed as 80 years old (clearly a guess since her death certificate says 67). Five of her six children are still living and she is reported to have arrived in the U.S. in 1895. She is living in her daughter Abbie's home. Connor, Ellen (I2018)

2748 In the 1910 Census, Francis is listed as 1 month old, so I would think he was really born in 1910 rather than 1909 as otherwise reported. Doucette, Francis Anthony (I2651)

2749 In the 1910 Census, he is recorded as Irl, sometimes listed as Carl.

In the 1920 Census for Seattle, there is an Earl Nash listed, b. 1895 in Arkansas, married to Jennie, b. 1900, from Canada. This looks like it could be Irl.

Higgs, Irl Nash (I3528)

2750 In the 1910 census, James is not enumerated with is family. He must be living elsewhere or traveling as a preacher.

The 1910 census lists her has being married for 20 years, married once, with three children born but only one living.

Living in Arkansas in 1910 could be explained if Bettie is in school at the Ouchita college. She starts as a school teacher shortly after this. And the college in Conway is one that her grandfather started.

But why was she living in Norman, Oklahoma while James was in little towns further south? Was it a health thing or something else?
Savant, Marie Louise (I5467)
